Inspired by the hedonism and openness of the New York disco scene Horseplay is a dance club with a mixed queer crowd, a DIY houseparty vibe and a fine dusting of glitter and sleaze. It's the kind of party where people dance without inhibition through the haze of smoke, lights and lasers. Every last Friday of the month you'll find The Cavern Club transformed into a disco stables; it's a dirty underground club beneath a metal bar, with cheap beer and an intimate vibe.
Who plays what?
The club is sound-tracked by resident Jockeys Mike Pony, Jim Carna and Bronco. The Horseplay Jockeys play a frisky mix of nu-disco and indie dance with a touch of classic disco, pumped through time and space directly into your ears in full stereo sound. Horseplay champions brand new alternative dance music. We occasionally book special guest DJs and keep our ear to the ground for those who share our musical ethos. We have previously booked london’s David Oh! (Love Machine, Popstarz, Another Night, Dirtbox, The Men Who Fell To Earth) and Nottingham’s electro disco sensation Ronika to spin at the stables.
Will I be welcome?
Horseplay attracts all sorts of people... we are a mixed club where stallions and fillies of all persuasions can get sweaty together. We don’t care who you are or what you are wearing, as long as you're up for sleazy, sexy disco. Sound good? Then we’d love to meet you. Pull on your riding gear... polish your hooves, comb out your mane and dance until you're ready for the knackers yard....
